June 19th – Sept. 25th

Its Finally Time for the 2015 Ivanhoe Farmers’ Market season!

Message from the Market Manager

I want to tell you how super excited that we are, to get started with the 2015 season and began our fourth and biggest year.  We hope that you will join us in celebrating Kansas City’s focus on growing urban gardens as we continue focusing on revitalizing the Ivanhoe community.

As the new market manager for Ivanhoe, allow me to welcome you to the 2015 season. To give you a little background information about me, I have being a gardener/farmer for about 30 years, starting out by helping my grandparents garden in their backyard.  I usually grow “regular” vegetables and greens, but focus on grow heirloom tomatoes and super hot peppers.  In addition to working with Ivanhoe, I run a small aquaponics consultation service, teaching people how to set up and maintain personal systems for residential and professional use.

I would personally like to welcome you to the Ivanhoe farmer’s market and invite you to take time to make us your first visit, before your start your weekend.  I am doing what I can to make sure that when you visit our market, that you will want to tell your friends and return to see us on the following Friday. Our market is located in the parking lot of the Nutter Ivanhoe Neighborhood Center, located ate 3700 Woodland.  The Ivanhoe Farmer’s Market starts June 19th and runs every Friday from 5-7 pm, until September 25th.
  • Can’t wait to see you!

Vendor Spotlight –  Eileen EllisEileen Ellis is one of our “Veteran Vendors”.  Eileen is a resident of Ivanhoe and has been growing and selling produce at the Ivanhoe Farmer’s market since it started, 4 years ago.  Eileen works as a school bus monitor and is a member of the Word Ministry group at her church.  She also grows food for her church, friends at her job and family.Eileen grows at the Ivanhoe community demo garden, in a 40 x 18 lot, and raised beds in the Ivanhoe neighborhood, provided by “Heroes House”.  Not having a vehicle and an $80.00 water bill are some of the barriers that prevent Eileen from growing as big as she wants to now, but she would eventually like to expand and grow regionally.Eileen is doing good things for her community in more than one way, so she is very busy.  One of the ways that we assist Eileen is by allowing her to stick around after market hours, to give her time to sell any produce that she might have to late visitors.Your local growers will have:  onions, potatoes, black raspberries, fresh herbs, and more!We accept cash, debit, and EBT/SNAP.
