Many KC-area markets operate as non-profit entities with a missions like increasing food access and growing entrepreneurs. These markets will sincerely appreciate a donation of any size – just drop it with the market manager when you visit the market.
If you don’t want to give to a farmer’s market (or if the market is not a non-profit), we recommend spending your “donation budget” with the vendors at your favorite market. You’ll almost certainly have more than you need and you can share leftovers with your friends, family, and neighbors – or donate extras to your favorite food pantry.
If you would like to take action instead, we’d love for you to become an “official” Kansas City Farmers’ Market “Friend of the Markets”. As a Friend of the Market, you’ll help promote your favorite neighborhood market through your favorite social media accounts, giving your market the grassroots social-networking-based visibility they need to thrive in a fast-food culture.
